Jamie earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration at the University of Delaware and has since worked with global brands and television networks like Nike, Apple, ESPN, ABC and FX. A lifelong student of the figure, his dynamic depictions of athletes have been part of broadcast features of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and soon the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Jamie's work is primarily focused on the figure, and its relationship with surrounding elements reflecting on commercialism, voyeurism/materialism, identity, post-apocalyptic landscapes - and the resulting tension. After an extensive career in the commercial art world, his process of destroying and remixing his original drawings and rebuilding as a collage to create a new story, is a direct reaction to the constraints of commercial art.
Jamie works primarily with sumi brush and traditional Chinese ink on watercolor paper for his drawings. Later when collaging, media can include acrylics, sprayed acrylics, gesso, graphite, and found objects such as stickers and labels. His art is influenced by the skate and surf scene, street art and streetwear, hip hop, manga, comic art, and classic rennaisance figure painting and drawing.
Originally from Newark, Delaware, Jamie has lived around the globe in Costa Rica, Romania, Brooklyn NYC and Denver. He currently lives as a permanent resident of Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico.
